According to state newspaper reports, which have since been deleted but not before making waves online, the exercise involved using drones to deliver camouflage cases containing precious metals and US dollars.
The images accompanying the report showed soldiers in tactical gear counting stacks of cash and gold bars, with a PLA emblem emblazoned on one case.
